Munich's Lenbachhaus houses the extensive oeuvre of the fantastic graphic artist Alfred Kubin. 

Kubin was a master of grotesque and nightmarish sceneries that drew heavily on expressionist and fantastical elements. His gloomy cityscapes, deformed figures and eerie visions found their way into the aesthetics of many science fiction and horror films.
