Avocado Kings
Documentary in development
Two Bavarian friends want to become the biggest avocado exporters in Tanzania. On their way they fight against the jungle of African bureaucracy, against British colonial masters, against devastating ecological balances, against maggots, worms and elephants, against Massai, with and for their marriages and sometimes against each other and against themselves - the Avocadokings.
In discussions around the topic of "Avocado Kings," we always come to the same point and justifiable accusation: we are telling a story that cements an existing narrative. Rich white men invest on the African continent to increase their wealth. In doing so, they still feel good, since they are doing something for the country. It remains a law - the big money, the big bugs flow elsewhere. Our story is very amusing. It is something between grotesque and comedy - and at the same time our story is the opposite of woke.
